Monalisa

Without a doubt, the Monalisa is one of the most well known paintings in the world- Its also one of the most expensive paintings in the world as well. The painting has been expiring artists and other people for centuries. It has been said even the lips took around 10 years to paint! The subject in the painting is named Lisa Gherardini. The painter (Leonardo da vinci) was not known for the Monalisa but a lot of things such as sketching the first parachute in the 15th century, anatomy studies, and a lot more. Leonardo wasn’t just valued as a painter but as a engineer.

Leonardo was born April 15, 1452 and died May 02, 1519. He was born in Vinci, Itlay. He was a Italian painter, sculptor, architect, and a engineer- he went beyond all those. The last supper and the monalisa are both very popular in the Renaissance. When he was a kid, his curiosity sprung by nature and water. His parents weren’t together at the time he was born. He was a only child until the age of 25 after his farther went through two wifes. His farthers name was Ser Piero, and his moms name was caterina. In 1482 he moved to Milan( where he lived for 17 years) to work in the service of the city’s duke. Where he drew military weapons and did some art for the duke. He spent three years (1483-86) drawing the altar painting called The Virgin of the rocks, which he didn’t finished. In 1489 he finally gets what he wants, the duke allows Leonardo to make the giant horse in memory of the dukes farther. Around this time he has his own work shop were he acquires a assistant. His name was sly(devil), he stood by Leonardo’s side for the rest of his life. He made one of his best painting in Milan called the Last supper, which only took him three years. In 1503 he moved back to Florence, where he made a expert survey of a project that attempted to divert the Arno river behind pisa, so that the city, the under siege by the Florentines, would be deprived of access to the sea. It turned that the project was unworkable. But Leonardo made a plan to make a large canal In the same year, he made one the worlds most well known painting called the Monalisa. In may 1506 the French governor in Milan asked him to travel with him to Milan. The governor asked the Signoria in Florence if Leonardo could travel with him. He let him go One the popes was mad at Leonardo cause he was dissecting human bodies. Which was illegal. In the winter of 1507 Leonardo went back to Florence, were he helped sculpted a bronze statues for the Florence Baptistery, after that he then settled back in Milan.  In 1508 he finished The Virgin Rocks. In the last years of Leonardo life, he had to move again. So the 60 year old Leonardo moved to rome- Where he lived for three years. Then at the age of 65 where a young king invited him, to enter his service in France. So, at the end of 1516 he left Italy forever, together with Melzi and sly. In Leonardo’s last few years, he lived in a small residence of Cloux, near the kings summer palace. He died in Cloux and was buried in the place church of Saint-Florentin. But the church was destroyed in the French revolution. When he died, he left all his paintings and drawing to his closest friends which were his assistants.

Leonardo had tones of famous painting. Besides the monalisa, the next one in my opinion was the Last supper. Leonardo sketched a lot of machines such a the giant crossbow, water lifting devices, flying machines, multi barrel gun, spring device and even a auto-mobile. He did a lot of studys of the body system too. He was a brilliant man, trying to help everyone else. For some reason Leonardo left his painting unfinished. By making machines and trying to expire others with his beautiful art. By the looks of it, Leonardo’s favorite thing was doing portraits of people.
